About St John’s Players

Welcome St John’s Players.  We are a small but enthusiastic amateur dramatic group based in Worcester.

Our next production will be announced soon!

Founded in 1949 in the St John’s area of Worcester, we have performed in diverse venues such as schools, church halls and theatres around Worcestershire with at least one play a year performed at the Swan Theatre, Worcester since its opening in the 1960s.

We always welcome new members. One great advantage of being small is that we are very much a team who all tackle every job – you could be directing one play, acting in another, or even “chief tea-maker” in the next.

We currently present two plays per year in the Vesta Tilley Studio at the Swan Theatre, Worcester. This unique venue gives us the opportunity to select a wider range of plays to suit different audiences and creatively challenge ourselves.

Recent acclaimed productions have included Yes, Prime Minister, Elsie and Norm’s Macbeth, The 39 Steps and Abigail’s Party.

We have a lot of fun, but because we perform in a professional theatre we aim to perform to the highest standards.

We have a regular Club Night on Tuesdays.  Cast rehearsals take place Tuesday and Thursday evenings. We have for many years been based in the Claines and Barbourne area and meet at The Mill, Gregory’s Mill Street, Barbourne.
